CinéDOC Summer School is an intensive workshop devoted to aspiring Georgian, Armenian, and Azerbaijani filmmakers. The Summer School curriculum is designed specifically for filmmakers to develop their practical and theoretical skills based on their own film material. CinéDOC- Tbilisi has been organizing the Summer School for the last three years; we've been inviting leading film professionals willing to generously share their expertise and knowledge with the participants.
The 2020 edition of the Summer School will take place on 25-30 June, and will be entirely conducted online. We are introducing a specially tailored program focusing on production, a vital and crucial aspect of every project on its way to becoming a successful film
The Summer School will have a well-known consultant and critic - Tue Steen Muller as the Head of Studies. Tue is the co-founder of Balticum Film and TV Festival, Filmkontakt Nord and Documentary of the EU.
As tutors, we have invited internationally acclaimed film professionals, such as Martichka Bozhilova - producer of AGITPROP (Bulgaria). Her high-end author driven films have been selected and awarded at Cannes, Berlin, IDFA, Toronto, Sundance, Tribeca, Pusan and many others, and broadcast all over the world. Srdjan Fink - a film and video editor based in Amsterdam with over 20 years of experience in the post-production industry. Uldis Cekulis created the independent production company VFS FILMS 22 years ago. In 2007 he was named among seven filmmakers, selected for their creativity, innovation and personal vision in the world of documentary making, to receive International Trailblazer award at MIPDOC in Cannes. He has worked on almost 50 creative documentaries and author-driven prime time TV docu-series both as a producer and sometimes as a cameraman
At Summer School we have selected 12 outstanding film projects from emerging talents from Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Through intensive week of lectures, exercises and one-to-one meetings, the tutors will analyze topics such as festival strategy, international workshops, opportunities, co-producing with other countries and a number of other important details.
Following the Summer School, the projects prepared and mentored during the workshop will be presented at the New Talents Caucasus, a pitching presentation of film projects in process and on different stages (development, production, post-production). In addition to the Summer School projects, we have selected four more film projects solely for New Talents Caucasus.
